These Counter Insurgency Support Office (CISO) Manufactured copies of NVA boots were owned by Paul Schuerunberg. The Counter Insurgency Support Office, run by Ben Baker, manufactured a number of items for SOG use from full copies of NVA uniforms through to sterile uniforms and equipment for cross border missions. Paul can be seen wearing these boots in Jason Hardies SOG book series as seen below.
Paul M. Schuerenberg Jr. transferred from the Command and Control Central Hatchet Forces to join Recon Team Ohio in June/July 1971. He took the 1-2 position with Robert Schrag the 1-1 and James Fry the 1-0. Paul later held the Team Leader position where he remained until Fe/March 1972 when the team was deactivated.
Paul Schuerunberg served with Task Force Advisory Element (TF2AE) between 1971 and 1972. He was assigned to the D-Company Hatchet Forces and was later with Recon Team Ohio and Arkansas. A photo of Paul wearing the boots in-country can be seen below, note the NVA uniform, Pitch helmet and magazine pouches for the AK-47.
