Unissued set of tiger stripes in the John Wayne Dense (JWD) pattern (Johnson classification). Notice how vibrant the colours are and how dark the black is. These black stripes create a perception of negative space and this is supposed to make the eye of an observer just pass straight over, thus adding to the effect of the foliage colouration within the pattern as well. These trousers have, for tiger stripes anyway, quite large thigh/cargo pockets. Some people, usually those that are trying to sell these types of items, refer to these as an airborne version. In reality these are probably no more than a manufacturing variation.
