Our good friend Jack Kull has done a supurb tribite to Al Boyer who was lost with ST Asp. His words below.
"As you know, for the past almost 30 years I've worn bracelets bearing the names of three U.S. Special Forces SOG soldiers who were lost on a covert mission into Laos on March 28, 1968.
Earlier this year, the remains of one of the team members, Alan Boyer, was positively IDed.
I've known the family for well over two decades and was designated my by office to accompany my Boss and the Army Casualty reps to go to Florida in March to notify Judi (his sister and only remaining relative) of the ID.
Alan was laid to rest with full military honors on June 22, 2016, at Arlington National Cemetery. I was honored and privileged to be asked by Judi to do the eulogy for Alan at the service.
In honor of Al's ID and return home, I did a second 12" "Al Boyer" figure for Judi that was displayed at the reception following the funeral. Once I get some pictures, I'll pass them.
Al Boyer is the second member of Spike Team Asp to be identified. The team leader, SFC Ron Brown, was recovered and his remains identified in 2003. We continue to search for the remaining unaccounted for member of Spike Team Asp, SSG Greg Huston, whose family also attended the Boyer service"
Details of his service can be found here and a video below.
