The wool stretch-type, cushion sole socks in Olive Green Army Shade 408 were the standard issue throughout the Vietnam War. when crossing trails SOG Recon teams would pull a pair of socks over their boots to minimize the tread patterns left by their Jungle Boots. Some SOG Recon team members wore no socks during missions, preferring to go barefoot in their boots.
SOG Teams would carry a spare pair of socks in their rucksack, in a plastic bag to keep them dry. |
