ERDL LRRP Beret

Local made beret for the LRRP unit of the 11th Armoured Cavalry Regiment (11ACR). The beret is made from the ARVN ERDL pattern camouflage (known to collectors as “invisible ERDL”). The badge is hand embroidered on twill and is in subdued colours. The “invisible ERDL” is closely based on the US ERDL but its overall darker tones (and heavier weight fabric) lead to a less distinct visible camouflage effect. The ARVN went on to develop another ERDL based pattern (see elsewhere on site!) and also made garments out of US ERDL material, both poplin and rip-stop. The majority of camouflage clothing within the ARVN was issued to their top units namely the Airborne Division, the Rangers and the LLDB (the Vietnamese SF). US Advisors to these units wore these patterns as well as the usual US versions.
