Here you can see the Modern Forces team as RT West Virginia in late 1971, the uniforms they are wearing are NVA uniforms with NVA tan chest-rig for the AK47s they are armed with. The Chest Rig is worn with the usual STABO harness and US web gear. NVA uniforms were worn to confuse the enemy in chance encounter, to give teams the edge in these engagements. teams would often have the point indig wear full NVA gear but sometimes the whole team would be wearing NVA gear like the photos of RT West Virginia you can see below.

The NVA Uniforms, Chestrigs and even the AK47 magazines were produced be CISO. The Counter Insurgency Support Office was established on Okinawa in 1963 to supply clothing, weapons and equipment to Special Forces operating in Vietnam. Principally run by Ben Baker, the office issued standard and untraceable (sterile) gear as well as locally developed items such as the indigenous rucksack, tiger stripe fatigues, Viet Cong style black pyjamas and NVA uniforms. Here you can see an example of the CISO produced NVA uniforms from Jason Hardy's website.
